The Almanack is a modern British gastropub in Highcross, Leicester. Hip, elegant but very down to earth, the Almanack serves high quality fresh seasonal food & great beers, wines & spirits all at pub prices. Overlooking a sunny new public square and The Old Grammar School, but only two minutes walk from John Lewis and the Showcase cinema, we are open all day, seven days a week, serving breakfast, coffee & cake, lunch, drinks & dinner.
The look may be fresh but the service is old-fashioned. The Almanack belongs to the people behind The Rose & Crown in Warwick, where we have won many friends & awards over the last seven years with great food & friendly, relaxed but professional service. It is also a sister pub to the Almanack in Kenilworth, which in the last year has established itself as Kenilworth's favourite 'local' and features in The Good Food Guide 2010 and Alistair Sawday's Pubs & Inns Guide
Our entrance leads into a comfortable bar & lounge furnished with vintage armchairs and sofas from the 60s & 70s. Our friendly bar staff will greet you with coffee & tea in the morning and all manner of other drinks. If you're hungry, it's up to you whether you eat in the bar or in the dining room with views of the open kitchen. And the stairs lead up to our private dining room, with a bird's eye view of the buzz in the pub below.
We take huge pride in serving the best ingredients we can find, from ethical producers, freshly prepared by our team of chefs. Head chef Corin Earland is currently dishing up a menu filled with the best ingredients available for winter, British wherever possible, to offer great quality and value.
Whether you drop in for a coffee (served with free toast in the mornings!), a pint, a business lunch, to work on your laptop with free Wi-Fi in comfortable friendly surroundings, or for dinner with friends we promise you a hospitable welcome. All day long.
