This line of furniture owes its unique design to the creative initiative of the firm FEEK. The company was founded in 2004 by Frederik van Heereveld and Eltjo Klomp, whose vision drives the firm. The first line of furniture, called ‘Orca’, exemplifies the companys spirit and philosophy: products with a fresh, youthful look, for people with a youthful outlook. Functional, comfortable and contemporary.
With its first product line, FEEK offers the ideal seating range with its round and square ‘Orca’ seats and the pouf to go with. This entire range is made out of polyether foam covered with a Mellow Face coating. This combination of materials produces some very special features: 800% elastic, water resistant, easy to clean with detergents and a high-pressure cleaner and not least is extremely comfortable. This makes the ‘Orca’ units so simple and practical, as well as modern and cosy, while also being both original and innovative.
The strength of this combination really lies in the coating, as well as in this entirely new art of upholstery” as Frederik van Heereveld explains. “This furniture embodies our entire philosophy. It concerns a new material which is flexible and easy to work with but can also be mass produced. The Mellow Face treatment, i.e. the coating, is what makes it water resistant and flexible. The whole range of ‘Orca’ furniture can therefore be used both inside as well as outside, and can easily be tailored for any project; consider for example hotels, terraces, swimming pools, saunas or schools.
The technical development, Mellow Flock was exhibited at the Milan furniture fair, “Salone del Mobile 2004″ Again, this technique highlights this “entirely new art of uphostery”. Here, the already well-known flock technique is combined with the Mellow Face technique. This very flexible forerunner combination forms a kind of skin-like material that gives the impression of upholstered furniture, however with no upholstery work involved.
The latest coating development presented in Milaan 2005 is the Rock Face a 3-5mm thick Polyurethane coating on top of foam, wood, plastic or concrete designs. This finish is to be used in public spaces and under more heavy circumstances.
